Chicarito: Roo is a monster

JAVIER HERNANDEZ last night opened his heart about playing with 'monster' Wayne Rooney.

The Manchester United ace's 16 debut-season goals have left Dimitar Berbatov on the bench - even though he is the Premier League top scorer with 19.

But Hernandez's blossoming partnership with Rooney has kept United in the hunt for the Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup treble.

Hernandez raved: "Playing with Wayne is a dream. He's a monster to be alongside and I never believed I would get so many games and goals during my first season at United."

Boss Alex Ferguson now prefers to play Hernandez, 23, alongside Rooney because of the Mexican's workrate, movement and ability to play off the shoulder of the last defender - just like ex-United hitman Carlos Tevez.

But 'Little Pea' Hernandez, looking to continue his rich vein of form at home to Bolton today, laughs off suggestions he is the 'little Carlos Tevez'.

He said: "The little Tevez? I'm really proud that people are comparing me to him but I am Chicharito and am living my dreams at the moment.

"I am very happy because I know there is so much more to come. My secret is to study opposition defenders and work out their weak points. I try to outwit them with my speed and anticipation in the area. So my goals are not down to luck.

"Perhaps the better physical preparation here in England is the key to my performances.

"This aspect of the game is better than in South America and I have profited."

Hernandez's double against Marseille in Tuesday's Champions League triumph had Fergie raving about his partnership with Rooney.

Hernandez added: "I'll always remember that night. The Champions League is the best competition worldwide so I'm very happy.

"Mr Ferguson's comments are very important for me. He has given me such confidence, he raises my morale and my only hope is that nothing changes."
