Real Sociedad 2 Almeria 0: Sociedad at the double

Goals from Jon Ansotegui and Raul Tamudo earned Real Sociedad a 2-0 win against lowly Almeria in tough conditions at a rain-drenched Anoeta.
Ansotegui opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time and then, with growing pools of water on the pitch making life difficult for both teams, Tamudo sealed the win with Sociedad's second 12 minutes from full-time.
The victory means promoted Sociedad, who had lost five of their previous six games, are now 11 points clear of 18th-placed Almeria and the relegation zone.
Almeria came into the match having been thumped 5-0 by Barcelona in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final in midweek, but prior to that game the Andalusian side had been showing signs of improvement with three wins and a draw against Real Madrid in their previous four matches.
And Jose Luis Oltra's team started promisingly in San Sebastian as well, with Albert Crusat firing just wide, Kalu Uche and Pablo Piatti bringing saves out of Claudio Bravo before Leonardo Ulloa struck the post.
However, it was hosts Sociedad who were ahead at half-time when Ansotegui scored in the 45th minute.
A half-cleared corner was played back into Tamudo inside the area and the veteran striker's chipped cross into the middle was headed in by Ansotegui.
Sociedad came close to doubling their lead just seconds later when they won a free-kick on the edge of the box, but Almeria goalkeeper Claudio Bravo did well to parry Tamudo's low shot.
Tamudo was not to be denied late on though as he secured Sociedad the points with the hosts' second goal, slotting in from close range after Mikel Labaka had headed a deep free-kick back into the six-yard box.
