Jose Mourinho has revealed he wants to the Premier League
Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has revealed he is planning on returning to the Premier League and has named Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea as the clubs he could potentially join.
Relations between the former Chelsea boss and Real’s president Jorge Valdano are reported to have become strained in recent weeks after the club’s board failed to provide the manager with the funds he wanted for January transfers.
Earlier this week, Emmanuel Adebayor joined the Spanish giants on a season-long loan after Real missed out on re-signing Ruud van Nistelrooy.
The Adebayor signing has been seen by some as an attempt to appease Mourinho, but the self-appointed ‘Special One’ now appears determined to leave the Bernabeu.
The Spanish press have quoted the Portuguese manager as confirming his desire to leave Spain and return to the Premier League.
‘I've decided to return to England. I have nothing prepared about my future - I just want to be happy in my work,’ Mourinho said.
‘I have no preferences about Manchester United, Manchester City or Chelsea. I just want to rediscover the joy.
‘I'm not saying the Premier League is the most spectacular in the world but it is the best organised... the fair play and the enormous respect for your opponent.’
Earlier this month, Mourinho publicly acknowledged he may leave Real in the summer.
'Regarding my future, we'll see what happens at the end of the season,’ he said.
‘Contracts aren't the most important thing in football. If all the parties are happy at the end of a campaign, they remain together. If they aren't, they don't.’
Real Madrid currently lie second in La Liga, four points behind leaders Barcelona.
