Wesley Sneijder has extended his current contract with Italian champions Inter by two years, club president Massimo Moratti revealed on Thursday evening.
Speaking to Sky Sport 24, Moratti said that the Dutch international midfielder has penned a two-year extension to his current deal, meaning that he will stay with the Nerazzurri until 2015.
Sneijder is one of the 23 players shortlisted for the FIFA Ballon d’Or award and is one of the favourites to win the prestigious accolade.
Although members of Spain’s World Cup winning squad such as Andres Iniesta and Xavi have been put forward as potential front-runners, Moratti believes his player will take home the prize.
“Everyone is free to say who he thinks will win, but it seems obvious to me that Sneijder should win the Ballon d’Or,” said the Inter supremo.
“He led Inter last season [to the treble] and also reached the final of the World Cup."
