BERLIN (AFP) - Germany striker Miroslav Klose's bid to get over a torn thigh muscle injury stalled Wednesday after the Bayern Munich forward broke down again with the injury in training.

Klose, 32, tore the thigh muscle in the 3-0 win over Kazakhstan in a Euro 2012 qualifier earlier this month. He had scored the game's opening goal to take his Germany goals tally to 58 from 105 appearances.

The Munich hot-shot was enjoying a great run of form for the national side, with six goals in four games this season leaving him only 10 shy of Gerd Mueller's all-time record of 68 in a Germany shirt.

Having sat out Tuesday night's 2-1 win over Werder Bremen in the German Cup with 'flu, Klose pulled up in training with Bayern and was sent to see the club doctor Hans-Wilhelm Mueller-Wohlfahrt.

There was some good news for Bayern as French midfielder Franck Ribery has returned to light training after injuring his right ankle in September. It is hoped he will be able to take part in squad training soon.

"We believe that he will be able to train with the team again next week and then we'll see how long it takes for him to get back to match fitness," said Bayern's director of sport Christian Nerlinger on television channel Sport1.

"He has done a great job and I think we will see Franck Ribery again on the pitch in the near future."

Fellow playmaker Arjen Robben is unlikely to return to Bayern colours until after the Bundesliga's winter break in January.
