FRANKFURT, Germany (AP)—Borussia Dortmund tied a club record by winning its seventh straight game with a 2-1 victory in Cologne to go to the top of the Bundesliga for the first time in seven years.
Nuri Sahin scored from close range in injury time on Friday to seal Dortmund’s victory. Mainz can regain the lead and break a Bundesliga record if it wins its eight straight game on Saturday against Hamburg. No team has ever opened the season with eight straight wins.
Jakub Blaszczykowski put Dortmund ahead after 20 minutes, following up after Lucas Barrios’ header bounced off the post.
Lukas Podolski leveled the game in the 82nd by driving in a clearance attempt, but Sahin’s late goal left Cologne winless in five games
