AMSTERDAM (AP)—PSV Eindhoven was back on top of the Dutch league on goal difference after beating NEC Nijmegen 3-1 on Saturday.
Danny Koevermans, Ibrahim Afellay and Ola Toivonen scored for PSV, which had to come from behind after John Goossens put NEC in front in the 37th.
Also, captain Luis Suarez converted two penalties to lead Ajax to a 2-0 win over Willem II.
FC Twente maintained its unbeaten start to the season with Bryan Ruiz and Roberto Rosales scoring on Luuk de Jong’s assists to give the defending champion a 2-1 victory at VVV Venlo to move to third.
Patrick Paauwe netted VVV’s goal off a 43rd-minute penalty.
PSV and Ajax both have 13 points. Twente, which hosts Inter Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday, has 11.
Suarez, who scored 35 goals in 33 league matches to finish top of the scoring chart last season, made no mistake from the spot to notch his 100th league goal in the 34th, then added another after the intermission to keep Willem II winless after five rounds.
Oussama Assaidi and Roy Beerens scored in SC Heerenveen’s 2-1 win against Vitesse.
Laurent Delorge and Willem Janssen scored to give Roda JC a 2-1 win over 2008 champion AZ Alkmaar.
Roland Bergkamp and Leen van Steensel grabbed the goals in Excelsior Rotterdam’s 2-1 win over Heracles Almelo.
