Alloa look to maintain advantage at the top

Alloa manager Allan Maitland has received a double boost ahead of the visit of Dumbarton.

Defender Scott Buist is available after a groin injury restricted him to a place on the bench last week while winger Mark Gilhaney is available again after a month out with a hamstring problem.

However, the midfield pair of Mark Brown and Brown Ferguson will require fitness tests to determine their availability.

Maitland is leaving nothing to chance as he looks for the win that will take his side another step closer to winning the Second Division title.

The Athletic boss watched the Sons draw 3-3 against Clyde in midweek, and said: "Having lost to Dumbarton twice already this season I knew they are a good team and what I saw on Wednesday reinforced that. I thought they were excellent especially in the first half."

Dumbarton will take a full-strength squad to the league leaders looking to boost their own hopes of a play-off place.

The only cloud hanging over Jim Chapman`s squad is one of inconsistency with his side struggling to build any kind of momentum - winning five, losing three and drawing two of their last 10 games.

Chapman looks set to keep faith with former Wasps goalkeeper Michael White in favour of Jan Vojacek.

He said: "Michael has come in for the last few games and done well."

Yet the rest of the Sons squad did not earn the same praise, with Chapman saying: "We have been inconsistent all season and against Clyde in midweek we were inconsistent in the one game, where we went from one extreme to another.

"We have been seeing great play at one end to score goals and then losing daft goals at the other, so the Alloa game could finish 5-5."
